Kefta Kebabs and 3 More for Your Labor Day Table

Hey Reader,

Labor Day weekend is my last real excuse to invite everyone over for a cookout before the calendar takes over. Once football and homework start, the grill mostly just sits there.

So I go all in on this one. These four travel well, and none of them keeps me inside while everyone else is out back.

The Four I'm Making This Year

Kefta Kebabs are a great alternative to the usual burger treadmill. They're naturally gluten-free and dairy-free, so I'm not standing there tracking who can eat what.

Tomatoes are as good right now as they'll be all year, and Tomato Quinoa Salad is where I put them. It sits at room temperature for hours without wilting, which matters when the food's outside.

With three ingredients, Baked Kale Chips are the perfect side instead of bags of potato chips. Make a double batch, because kale shrinks to almost nothing in the oven.

Cherry Crumb Bars work with fresh or frozen cherries, so you don't have to hunt anything down. Bake them the day before, cut them at the table, and watch them disappear.

Make whatever you can on Saturday so Monday belongs to you. What's going on your table?

Happy Cooking,
Michelle
